ArrayComm and Intel Collaborate to Bring the Benefits of Smart Antenna Technology to WiMAX

Jun 6, 2005 – SAN JOSE, California

ArrayComm, the wireless industry’s leading source of smart antenna technologies, today announced that Martin Cooper will deliver a keynote speech at the Wireless World Research Forum in San Diego, California. The topic of Mr. Cooper’s speech will be “Future Mobile Device Enablers”.

The Wireless World Research Forum will be held on July 7-8 and is being hosted by Intel and LG Electronics. The two-day program will include a mix of plenary, Working Group/Special Interest Group sessions, and a General Assembly (for Forum members only). Mr. Cooper is scheduled to address the group on the morning of July 8. His speech will cover the changing landscape of the wireless industry and the impact that new technologies and new business models will have on that landscape.

The Wireless World Research Forum (WWRF) is a global organization, founded in August 2001 to identify and scope research issues relevant to future mobile and wireless communications, including pre-regulatory impact assessments. The WWRF provides a global platform for exchange of views to initiate global cooperation towards systems beyond 3G. Current WWRF members include Alcatel, Ericsson, France Telecom, IBM, Lucent, Motorola, Nokia, Nortel Networks, Samsung, Siemens, Telefonica and Vodafone.

“I am very pleased to have the opportunity to address this distinguished group,” said Martin Cooper, ArrayComm’s executive chairman. “The WWRF contains many of the industry’s leading visionaries, working together to take wireless communications to its next level. This kind of collaboration is one of the key strengths of this industry and one of the factors that make it such a dynamic and exciting field.”

About the Wireless World Research Forum

The Wireless World Research Forum was founded jointly by Alcatel, Ericsson, Nokia and Siemens. The forum deals with the definition of research directions into the Wireless World, i.e., wireless communication beyond the third generation. The objectives of the forum are to contribute to a common and comprehensive vision for the Wireless World by concentrating on the definition of the required research, including investigations of pre-regulatory impact. It will also provide a platform for an in-depth discussion of research results and their implications on spectrum and regulatory issues. It is intended that the forum’s activities constructively contribute to the work of the UMTS Forum, ETSI, 3GPP, IETF, ITU, and other relevant bodies. The forum invites a worldwide participation and is open to all interested parties. Members include manufacturers (IBM, Lucent, Motorola, Nortel Networks, Samsung), network operators/service providers (France Telecom, Telefonica, Vodafone), R&D centers, universities and small and medium enterprises. Additional information on the next WWRF conference can be found at their site.
